How We Keep Your Care Affordable

One of the first questions people ask us is simple: how can expert, unhurried, root-cause medicine cost a fraction of what they expected? It's a fair question — and the answer isn't a gimmick or a loss-leader. It comes down to how we've chosen to build the practice. Here are three of the biggest reasons.

1. No middle-men

The healthcare world is crowded with layers between you and your clinician. Consulting firms, management services organizations, and private equity groups increasingly sit on top of doctors' offices — and most of them have never treated a patient. Their job is often to maximize revenue per visit: to upsell products, add-on services, and protocols, rather than to make sure the right care is delivered.

We don't have those layers. Contour is clinician-led, and the savings from cutting out the middle-men go to you — not to a management fee or an investor's return.

2. No "programs and pathways" trap

Structured care pathways can be genuinely useful — a clear, evidence-based plan for a well-understood problem is a good thing. But some "programs" are really just funnels, designed to route every patient into an expensive, pre-packaged protocol whether they need it or not.

We don't work that way. We start with what you actually need and build from there, recommending only the testing, treatment, and follow-up that earns its place in your plan. Affordability and access aren't afterthoughts for us — they're part of the design.

3. Transparent pricing on medications

Markups on medications — especially compounded drugs — are one of the least visible ways costs balloon. It's common for organizations to mark up compounded prescriptions by 200% or more, and you rarely see it happen.

We're admirers of the Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs model, where pricing is transparent and the markup is small and stated up front. We'll always work to get you the lowest available price on the prescriptions you need — and we'll be open with you about what things actually cost.

Affordable and excellent aren't opposites

None of this means cutting corners. It means removing the layers, incentives, and markups that don't serve you — and passing the difference back to you. Building a practice where world-class care and genuine affordability are both true is exactly the point.
